Ali will teach the workshop Styles of Singing in Traditional (Established) Kurdish Music in the frame of Müzik Köyü. It will take place from 19-24 July in Pülümür.
This performance-based workshop will explore the established vocal styles of regions with distinct musical traditions, such as Serhad, Dersim, and Botan. Designed by Ali for music teachers, musicians, and music students aged 12 and above, the workshop offers participants the opportunity to understand the social histories and worldviews embedded in each song, to distinguish thematic forms, and to learn the foundational rhythms of Anatolian Kurdish music. They will also become familiar with the main and accompanying instruments of Kurdish music and strengthen their vocal performances by learning the basic pronunciation in Kurmancî and Zazakî.
